Full disclosure: this is sketched from a photograph. Wrong season right now, anyway. I think I took this photo back in August, when the farmer's market was bursting with fresh fruits and veggies.
But someday, I hope to sketch at the market. It's always full with people jostling about. That still gives me sketching-heebie-jeebies. For now, I'll stick to practicing layering colours with shadowing. I tend to want to paint all at once, not letting my layers dry. Because of that, my shadows don't shadow. I guess waiting for summer is a lot like waiting for paint to dry – it takes patience.
